With around 40 students, St Anthony’s Parish School, Dimbulah is a small school with a big spirit!
St Anthony’s is described by newcomers as a peaceful place of learning. It is also a happy place with a vibrant school spirit, a friendly family feel and a safe, caring learning environment. According to St Mary MacKillop, foundress of the Sisters of St Joseph who began St Anthony’s in 1965, every child has the right to a good education, regardless of their background.
At St Anthony’s we adopt this philosophy, as we strive for excellence in education, enabling each child to achieve to the best of their ability so that they can contribute purposefully to their community, both now and in the future.
The education we offer at St Anthony’s is a child-centred, wholistic one that focuses not only on curriculum and the academic basics of a good education, but also has a spiritual and personal focus and a particular emphasis on social and emotional wellbeing. Our high quality and reflective teaching practices together with the nurturing of school-wide positive relationships are qualities that are highly valued by our families.
We have optimum class sizes and high teacher to student ratios for individualised teaching and learning. A reflective learning approach means that students are always improving and we encourage them to take self-responsibility for behaviour and learning. Parental involvement is always welcomed at St Anthony’s, where success in learning is celebrated.
St Anthony’s nurtures a pastoral care environment, enabling all students from a diverse spectrum of learning and physical abilities to inspire a culture of inclusiveness.
Being a Catholic school, St Anthony’s emphasis on learning about Christian values is instilled in students’ daily school life, giving them a strong foundation to becoming responsible, tolerant adults.
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is integrated into teaching and learning and the school enjoys a very high student to computer and mobile device ratio. St Anthony’s boasts state-of-the-art facilities including a 21st Century library, a multi-purpose kitchen, undercover courts, and interactive play equipment.
We are committed to providing the very best education for your child. Students have opportunities to participate in many programs such as Lunch Clubs, Better Buddies, Performing Arts and Sporting events. St Anthony’s has implemented the Kid’s Matter Framework since 2014. Above all, our amazingly dedicated and passionate staff ‘go the extra mile’ for the children.
We are preparing our students for the future in a rural setting by cultivating and harvesting life-long learners! We offer a quality education that is faith and values based, and now an education at St Anthony’s is even more affordable.
In recognition of the difficult economic circumstances being experienced by the Dimbulah community, Cairns Catholic Education has significantly reduced fees at St Anthony’s. From 2019, all new and existing families will pay a maximum of $400 per student per year ($100 per term) for Tuition Fees and School Levies, all-inclusive.
Bus fares will also be paid by the school on behalf of students and the amount payable after the allowable rebate will be invoiced to families.
At St Anthony’s, we welcome all who seek to share in our community and what we offer. Join us! Enquiries are always welcome.
